Mental Health First Aid is a public education program that teaches individuals, especially persons without a mental health background, about:

the warning signs of a person developing a mental health problem
-
how to provide support when a person is getting ill or is in crisis until professional help arrives
Attendees learn:
-
How to identify the warning signs of specific illnesses such as anxiety, depression, substance use, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and schizophrenia
-
How to guide individuals to the appropriate mental health resources, professional, peer, social, and self-help care.
VIRTUAL Course Format
There are 2 parts to the training

PART A: 2 — hour, self-paced, online course
-
PART B: 5 — hour, an online course led via Zoom by an Instructor
NOTE:
ALL participants MUST complete PART A, the 2-hour self-paced online course before they can attend PART B, the 4-hour Zoom class with the instructor. Also, part two - the 5-hour Zoom class with the instructor must happen all at once. It CANNOT be broken into different days. As with the in-person training, it will be interactive and include breaks to allow for a pleasant learning experience.

About the Certificate
This certificate expires 3 years from the date you complete the course. Renewing is simple and can be done through the Mental Health First Aid website.

ALGEE Action Plan
This MHFA course teaches participants a 5-Step Action Plan to support someone developing signs and symptoms of a mental illness or is in an emotional crisis.
